Main Line Rising Star: Photographer Jesse Kanefsky

Every so often, a young creator emerges on the Main Line with a natural eye, fresh perspective, and undeniable passion. This edition, that rising star is Jesse Kanefsky, a Haverford student who discovered his artistic calling the moment he picked up a camera.

Jesse explored plenty of creative outlets growing up including drawing and woodworking, but nothing clicked until a friend gifted him a Nikon just a few months ago. That moment changed everything. Through photography, Jesse finally found the medium that allowed him to express what he saw and felt.

A Breakout Moment on the Field

Jesse’s proudest moment so far came when he photographed the Haverford vs EA golf match. As one of the only freshmen shooting, he delivered, capturing dynamic images and proving he had the talent to stand alongside upperclassmen and seasoned student photographers.

A Routine Built Around Creativity

On game days, Jesse reaches out to players to offer personal photos, and when he’s not covering sports, he’s outside experimenting with landscapes, angles, and color. He spends his downtime editing, not because he has to, but because he loves improving his craft. He shows up, stays curious, and practices constantly.

Jesse’s favorite photo? A powerful image from Haverford/EA Day: the Haverford football team huddled tightly, with EA fans swirling in the background. It captures emotion, rivalry, character and most importantly, it showcases Jesse’s signature editing style.

Growing a Presence, One Post at a Time

For now, Jesse shares his work primarily on Instagram, relying on likes, recognition, and engagement to grow his following and attract new clients. His circle, including a supportive senior photographer named Charlie and family friends who helped him build his gear setup, continue to push him forward.
